Horror Story!

My mother just joined Facebook for some unknown reason. Oh. My. Gosh. My sister called me to warn me after her daughter sent her a text message saying "Maw Maw is on FB? What the hell??"

This is very disconcerting. What is the etiquette for declining one's mom's friend request?

OK, I know, I have to accept her. Maybe I'll just assign her to her own little friend category and restrict her access. Anyway, I'm not allowed to add her until my sister gets back in town and has time to delete any "you're turning into your mother" comments she has left on my other sister's page. She said we might even need to have a conference call about this.

Shouldn't there be an age limit on social networking sites?

And in case you're wondering, yes it IS that big of a deal. The reasons are too numerous to mention.

I joined -- and I don't know what to do about people who request to be my friend -- and I thought I'd left them somewhere long ago in my past....

I feel your pain, my Mother-in Law friended me a few weeks ago. Oddly, I have been somewhat absent from Face book since ;)

David, thanks for the tip. I immediately sent the link to my sisters.

How does the woman who can't figure out how to check voice mail on her phone figure out how to sign up for Facebook and add people as friends? Baffling!

Well, I guess I get along with my mom and love her enough to accept her friend request :P I was kinda excited that she took an initiative to try to learn something that is hard for her to understand lol.

You know what? She got in long enough to sign up and then she forgot her password, so she's already e-mailed the "facebook people", (there's no telling who she emailed, really) and "proved she is who she says she is" (there's no telling what information she gave them) and she still can't get back in. It just has disaster written all over it.
