The Boy on the Bus

I read The Boy on the Bus today. What the crap was that? I have no idea what it was about or whether the kid really was Charlie.

I'm guessing the kid really was Charlie and that he changed his persona a little because he thought it would make his dad stick around?

But then again, I thought the mom was psychotic,and since it's told from her point of view, it's a little hard to tell.
