Wonderous Words Wednesday (2)

Wonderous Words Wednesday is hosted by Bermuda Onion. These are unfamiliar words I've come across in my reading adventures.

These words came from Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. I'm not finished with the book yet, so I'm sure there will be more before it's all said and done!

Halcyon: adj. calm; peaceful; tranquil.
"The halcyon postwar promise of "better living through chemistry" has fallen from grace. Page 17

Remuneration: n. something that remunerates; reward; pay.
"'Cooking without remuneration' and 'slaving over a hot stove' are activities separated mostly by a frame of mind." page 127
