If you're a beginning runner, this book is worth a read.
It is geared toward "adult-onset" runners and runners who generally can't make their way past the back of the pack on race day.
It's full of great tips and enouragement and it has blurbs of "I wish someone would have told me" advice from other runners thoughout.
Bingham discusses the importance of taking walk breaks during a run and concentrating more on one's current location during a run rather than how far it is to the finish line. He also offers advice on how to deal with injuries, not giving into the guilt of not being "fast enough", or not running far enough, or even little things like not having a long enough stride.
If you need a little encouragement to keep running, this is a good start.

My husband's been a runner all his life and was training for a marathon but just hurt his calf so that he'll not be doing it afterall. He's pretty depressed about it, I think it's the whole "getting older" thing that makes him irritated.
