Book Gluttony

You might remember (from last month) that I do a count of how many books are on my To Be Read (TBR) shelf on the 6th of each month. Why the 6th? I have no idea. That's just the way it worked out the first time I did it and I'm anal so I keep doing it on the 6th of every month so it'll be exactly a month. Have me committed.

Anyway, what's today? The 6th!

Number of books on Mt.TBR as of 2/06/07 = 70
Number of books on Mt.TBR as of 3/06/07 = 72
Number of books on Mt.TBR as of 4/06/07 = 73
Number of books on Mt.TBR as of 5/06/07 = 83

Looks like I went a little bit crazy since last month. You may recall that the library book sale was last month, though, so that's where most of those extra books came from.

Lest you think I just acquire and acquire and acquire books without reading them or getting rid of them when I'm done, here's a list of books I've read since 4/06/07.

31.The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
32.Night Swimming by Robin Schwarz
33.The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel
34.Green River, Running Red by Ann Rule
35.Couplehood by Paul Reiser
36.The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
37.I Believe in Miracles by Kathryn Kuhlman
38.Ripped at the Seams by Nancy Krulik
39.1984 by George Orwell --Dystopia Challenge Book
40.Dispatches from the Edge by Anderson Cooper
41.The Pull of the Moon by Elizabeth Berg
42.A Widow, a Chihuahua, and Harry Truman by Mary Beth Crain

I've finished books 31-42 of the year since last month, so I am actually reading the books I bring in. I'm just bringing them in faster than I'm reading them. While I'm at it, of those books, I liked The Pull of the Moon and The Time Traveler's Wife best. I liked I Believe in Miracles the least. Just so you know.

Speaking of books, the boy is on his way over to help me rearrange the furniture so I can bring in the new bookshelf my dad brought me. I suppose I should put on some shoes or something so I don't break my foot when I drop my end of the treadmill on it.

Thank You for dropping in, and just so you know I too am an avid reader. So you are not alone (sappy violin music playing in the background)

Maybe we could keep each other abreast of new things we've read. I too am a Harry Potter fan. (shhhh... I tell people I buy the books for my daughter).

Oh, I really enjoyed "Pull of the Moon" too; very...poignant.

I'll be blogging about some of the quotes I pulled out of The Pull of the Moon sometime. I can't wait to read more of Berg's books.

The Clan of the Cave Bear was really well written. I enjoyed it, but...daunting is a good word. Those books are LONG and it took me forever to finish it. There are lots of characters to keep up with (many of them with similar names) so it gets a little tedious. But it was unlike anything I've read before, and I plan to soldier on and read the rest of the series...eventually!
