1. The trunk of my car. I had gotten groceries out of the trunk on the day my keys were last seen. I thought maybe I had dropped them inside without realizing it. No such luck. 2. My cluttered desk. I did clean off my desk a little bit during the search, so I guess that's a bonus. 3. Under the couch cushions. 4. The kitchen table/counter tops. 5. The pile of "to be folded" laundry in the chair in my living room. 6. Under my bed. 7. Under my treadmill. 8. The kitchen garbage--thank goodness it didn't have much in it and I could just shake the bag to listen for key-like sounds. 9. On top of my piano bench. 10. Inside my CD case. I carried it inside during the last key sighting. 11. THE BIG TRASHCAN. Yes, the one that goes out to the curb once a week. The huge one with rollers that I had to turn over sideways and crawl halfway into to make sure there were no keys in it. That one. 12. THE BIG RECYCLING CONTAINER. Yes, the one that goes out to the curb once a week. The huge one with rollers that I had to turn over sideways and crawl halfway into to make sure there were not keys in it. That one. I actually thought it might be a sign from God that the keys were in there when the recycling truck didn't come by on its regular day. I thought, "God has given me an extra day before recycling pick up so I can dig through the container and find my keys before they are lost forever." (And God was probably thinking, you crazy girl, look in your...eww, watch out for that funky can of cream of chicken soup, it's growing a new bacteria that won't be discovered until 2015!) And the place where my keys finally turned up? 13. My purse. I had taken everything out of it before to look for my keys, but they weren't there. By the time I had gone through 1-12 above I was really beside myself. I didn't know where else to look, but I knew they had to be in my house somewhere. I decided to just dump my purse upside down on the living room floor and double check. The keys didn't fall out, but I did realize that the zippered pocket inside felt awfully heavy...and then I realized that somehow my keys had fallen into the pocket when it was unzipped and when I zipped it up again, I didn't realize they were inside. I do have a paypal account if anyone wants to take up a collection to get me one of those key locater thingies. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |

Oh I hate that!!! There is nothing more aggrevating than loosing something - and then *poof* there it is in such a *normal* place!! At least you finally found them!
Happy TT!!
Well, I'm glad you finally found them. I have done the exact same thing before, looked one place and not found them only to find them there when I looked again. Totally frustrating.
I had one of those key searches not too long ago. When I started my search over they were in the place they were supposed to be. Aggravating.
Oh I'da been SO MAD. Keys are one thing I never lose, knock wood.
After a day like that, the local pub sound really good. lol Glad you found them :)
Been there! I lost my keys for a year before I found them out in the back yard.....
This was a very funny post! I've been there, done that for sure! Happy TT!
I would have been spazzing big time, but as I read through your list, I realized that I had done the same thing once when looking for my cell phone. Hate when it was in the first place I looked.
Thanks for stopping by, have you tried paperbackswap? http://www.paperbackswap.com/
Sounds like you would know where your book was going!
Happy Thursday!
I have four complete sets of keys. I lose set #1, I start using set #2.
I lose set #2, I start using set #3.
I lose set #3, I start using set #4.
I lose set #4...and set #1 turns up.
It's bizarre; but I no longer question.
That so sounds like my house, but here it's usually me looking for my husband's keys. I usually only lose mine, or my cellphone, in the spring. They end up in the pocket of a jacket that got put away for the season and forgotten about. After having that happen a few times it's now the first place I look!
Oh, and if you happen to stumble across my husband's bicycle pump, can you please let me know where he left it.
Laughing Moose is a Genius!
I'm so sorry... Laughing Muse, not Moose. Obviously I am not genius material.
Good one. My wife lost a cell phone through a small slit in the liner of her purse. It was in the purse the whole time, but we claimed our insurance and got a new phone. A couple of weeks after that, Lovely Wife decides to switch purses and realized there was still a lump in the old, supposedly empty purse. It could happen to anyone, but going through the garbage is the worst!
I'm continuously misplacing things. Perhaps that's why the hubby has developed a habit of following behind me when I'm shopping to pick up my wallet/purse/glasses or whatever I set down "just for a second".
I lost my keys ONCE. That was enough; they had fallen into a bag of baby toys I hauled around with me to keep #2 happy at a play date.
Now if I don't have pockets in my pants, I jam the keychain down my waistband.
lol. been there done that. even the ichky trash bin dive. tho that time it wasn't keys i was after. it was the booklet from a CD that belonged to the library. did not have a happy ending. had to buy the CD and give my copy of the booklet to the library. Lost at the same time was the CD-ROM of the expensive drawing program that came with our printer. These losses were the result of my husband and nephew 'cleaning up' after a week of batching it while I was watching my husband's brother's kids while their folks went on vacation. I was not a happy camper that week. The week of putting things back in order at home made that week of tending three kids seem like a vacation.
ah, well. thanx for visiting my TT 13 things I'm not going to miss about the weekly library walk now that the doors are locked indefinitely.
