Congratulations, Mary!

I just saw your comment. Congratulations on your engagement! I hope you're able to have the wedding of your dreams. :) And yes, I'm always happy to provide comedic entertainment for you and yours.

I think I sleepwalked last night. Do you know how creepy that is? Really, really weird. I've never done that before.

So I'm reading this essay called A Return to Modesty: Discovering the Lost Virtue by Wendy Shalit. The chapter I read last night was about sex-ed in public schools and how it seems that there is a coorelation between early sex-ed and sexual assaults in elementary school, teenage pregnancy, and STDs. I had no idea that sex-ed starts in Kindergarten. I think if I had a Kindergarten kid, I probably wouldn't want them to have to know the difference between HIV and AIDS at such a young age. Once upon a time, kids got to be innocent for a short while before they grew up. What happened to that? I'm not a prude. I really don't even mind the high school nurse's office having free condoms on hand. The older I get, the less conservative I am and the more moderate (and realistic) I become. 75% of kids will have sex before they graduate from high school. I'd much rather those 75% know how to use a condom and not infect everyone and their mom with who knows what. Teach abstinence. But be realistic and teach responsibility to the kids that applies to as well (just at an age appropriate time).

Yes, I'm reading an essay on post-modern sexual ideals. I'm a dork. Sue me. It's very interesting so far (I'm only a couple of chapters in). Not sure if I'll agree with it 100%, but at least it's good to read something besides my normal fiction stuff sometimes. And the lady who wrote it is Jewish, so maybe I'll learn a little about Jewish modesty laws along the way. That's kind of fascinating stuff too...in an over the top kind of way.

I have customers in town this week, so I get to work from LR tomorrow and entertain them tomorrow night. Yippee! It may cut into my blogging time tomorrow.
