How NOT to make a Cheesecake

I've been researching how to remove a cheesecake from a springform pan (I mean getting it off the bottom of the pan so you can put it on a serving plate). My overwhelming suspicion is that nobody knows. If it's impossible, why do the pictures of cheesecakes that are shown with recipes show a cheesecake on a serving plate (sans springform bottom)? It's a big lie.

Anyway, I was making a chocolate chip cheesecake last night to take to Alias night tonight. One of the tips I read said to line the bottom of the pan with wax paper. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea and an easy one to try. I also thought it would be even better if I lightly greased the wax paper to help it come loose later.

I baked the cheesecake and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight to set up.

This morning I awoke to a cracked cheesecake. I used a water bath and everything and it still cracked. Yes, I'm a cheesecake failure, but I didn't let that part bother me too much. I ran a knife around the edge to free the sides, which was fine. Then I decided to try to flip it to remove it from the bottom.

Wax paper didn't help at all. It was suctioned on there or something. Not to mention the wax paper got all soggy and started tearing and sticking to the crust (someone's bound to eat some wax paper tonight). The weight of the bottom of the pan also seemed to smush the cake a little.

I eventually got it loose, but it's not the prettiest one I've ever made.

I'm also making "Layers of love brownies" when I get home this evening. I thought it was a cute thing to make on Valentine's day. I'm not putting nuts in them though, so I guess they'll have one less layer of love! They have caramel and chocolate chips and white chocolate chips and all kinds of things in them. Maybe they'll be prettier and less wax papery.
