Yesterday I went to Kathy's school for special people for their pantry party. It's a really nice place. It was a lot bigger than I expected it to be. Anyway, all of the students were so friendly. One guy named Scott was a little too friendly. He started winking at me and blowing me kisses. Then he declared to all of the teachers and the visitors that I am his girlfriend.
Some of the people there seem like regular, run-of-the-mill highly functioning people until you hear one of them say, "this is my boyfriend, so and so" and you can tell that "so and so" is special. So I figured that once Scott started announcing me as his girlfriend, everyone just figured I was special too. But that's OK.
My mom and dad made it back yesterday evening and I made soup and salad for dinner (not that I eat salad, but anyway!). And today my dad took me fishing. Whoo hoo! It was 60 something degrees which is pretty cold when you're out on the water, but it wasn't too bad. We had a slow start, but we found a couple of honey holes and even caught a couple of nice red ear. I had my sights on a gar that swam right in front of me. I pulled my hook over in front of his face and he actually bit it! He ran with it and I got him all the way near the boat and he got away. I was sad. I always want to catch gar when I see them because I think they're so interesting looking. This one was only about a foot long, but they can get really big. My dad asked me what I was going to do with it if I caught it and I told him I was going to be very excited and look at it for a minute and then tell him I needed him to take him off the hook (they have sharp teeth, gar). My dad caught a turtle, but he came off before he got him in the boat. Good thing because it was a snapping turtle. And we saw an alligator, but I didn't catch him either. My dad tried to, but the gator was having no part of it. There used to be a lot more alligators in that lake, but this was the first one we've seen in a long time.
My mom kept Mercy while we were gone and she said that Mercy refused to have anything to do with her all day. When Mom tried to pet her, Mercy ran back into the bedroom and hid for the rest of the day. She's never really keen on my mom. I'm not sure why.
I got to visit my visit my friends Elaine and Tracey last night and got to meet their new baby, Joshua. He's really cute! I think he looks just like his mom's side of the family.
We got some bad news last night. My uncle, James, was diagnosed with cancer this week and it appears to have spread all over his body. He doesn't have long to live. He's in his late 80's. If you think about it, pray for him. He's a really good hearted guy and he lives with my aunt who is a witch of a woman (to put it nicely). Their daughter is also the devil incarnate.
James had been compaining with some health issues for about a year (and even told them that he had a knot in his abdomen), but his wife and daughter pretty much told him to shut up and deal with it and that he was only trying to get attention. It's really unnerving because who knows if things would have turned out differently if his immediate family would have only taken him seriously and shown him some compassion. They wouldn't even have taken him to the doctor this time except my dad called the daughter and said, "I made James an appointment. I can't see sitting around and letting him die because you wouldn't take your daddy to the doctor." So they finally got off their butts and decided that him not being able to pee for a few days and coughing like crazy and his legs being all swelled up was sick enough for him to go get FREE medical care. It's irritating. And my cousin went by last night and took some soup and my aunt said, "There's no need for you bringing food over here because he can't eat it anyway." So we guess she's just going to starve him to death now. And my other cousin went by to visit and when he tried to give James a hug, evil daughter said, "We don't do hugs around here." But he hugged him anyway and pretty much said, "Screw you, evil daughter!"
I wanted to go by tonight and see him, but we drove by their house and saw that they already had company, so we didn't stop. I know this sounds awful, but I'm worried that they might do a Dr. Kevorkian on him (his wife and daughter). But then I've always been a little worried that they would kill him.
Drama, drama.
