Old Navy to the Rescue and other Texarkana Tales

In the continuing quest to find jeans that fit, I went to Old Navy the other day. I bought some jeans, but when I got them home, I decided they were hideous. So today I took them back and exchanged them for some more. The ones I got today are OK, but I'm concerned because they didn't have my size in Long, so I had to settle for Regular. Then there's also the factor that they have 1% spandex in them and I think I can clearly predict that they will shrink the first time I wash them and I'll never be able to wear them again. Shopping is so frustrating.

However, while I was there, I did pick up a new collar for Mercy. It's made out of this material that some people make skirts and jackets out of...it's really nubby. I don't know what it's called though. And it has some little flowers on it. She seems to like it. I guess. She just let me put it on her and went to sleep on the kitchen floor. It might be a little too big, but I figure I can just poke another hole in it where I can tighten it up. I never attach her leash to her collar anyway...I always use a harness. It was only .97, so I figure that's OK. Butter had chewed up Mercy's old collar until it looked pretty ghetto.

Mercy hates it here. There are too many strange noises and one too many cats. She discovered the ceiling fan in our bedroom last night...she just stared up at it and started backing out of the room. It was turned off. We have ceiling fans at home, but she's never acted that way toward them. She's especially scared of the back door. This is unfortunate since she has to go out the back door to take potty breaks. I have to carry her outside and then she looks at me with hate. She's also on a hunger strike, but she does that every time we come.

Other than that, things here are good. I've read a book and 1/2 since I've been here and I've been cooking quite a bit. I hope to run into Roz in the next day or two and go see Elaine's baby at some point.

I saw an old High School friend a couple of days ago and it reminded me how old I am. I think she's got 4 kids now. I feel like I shouldn't be old enough for one of my friends to have 4 kids, but I guess I am!

I'm still itching like crazy, but I've stopped sleeping with gloves. It's not so bad that it's waking me up at night anymore at least.

Kathy should be home soon, so I'll go take care of a few things before she gets here.
