One of the books my group picked for an upcoming discussion is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. That sounded familiar to me, so I starting digging around in my Bookcrossing bookshelf and found that I had it and gave it away in October. Dang it. Too bad I can't predict the future. It sure would come in handy sometimes.
And while we're on the subject of books, I think it's only right that I participate in this bookish meme because:
A) Lisa over at Books, Lists, Life did it the other day.
B) The same day I saw Lisa's blog entry about it, Kevin sent me a link to it from elsewhere.

Anyway, without further ado, here it is:

Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following.

The book is Second Glance by Jodi Picoult. I generally like Picoult a lot, but I'm about 150 pages in and she hasn't hooked me yet. I'm not HATING it, but I'm not really impressed either. We shall see. Full review to come.

here's mine: The park's 33-mile (53-km) Rim Dr. kprovidfes spectacular views of varied terrain and many feathered residents, such as hairy woodpeckers, mountain chickadees, dark-eyed juncos, great horned and spooted owls, red-breasted nutchatches, brown creepers, Clark's nutcrackers, and bald eagles -- watch for them on snags by the rivers.
This would obviously been a meme for the birds 8^
