Finally Some Good News

I just heard from my mom regarding what my sister found out today.

The doctor said that if you have to pick a cancer off the shelf to have, hers is the one to have. He said it's not a type of cancer that spreads to other parts of the body and kills people. When he heard that her Txk doctor had recommended a double mastectomy, his response was, "WHY?!" He recommended a lumpectomy instead, to be followed with radiation (for maybe 6-7 weeks) and some kind of hormone mimicking drug (probably for several years) that starves the tumor (just to be sure). She will have some disfiguration after the surgery, but it won't be nearly as invasive as a mastectomy (much less a DOUBLE mastectomy). She will be able to go to her son's graduation without any problems, and his prom is this weekend, so she'll be home to take pictures and all of that kind of stuff.

Oh, and the doctor/radiologist/whatever in Txk had told her that they also found a cyst. Well, this doctor said it's not a cyst, it's a calcification and they'll be removing that too because those can become malignant.

All in all, it's much better news than any of us expected. They haven't scheduled the surgery yet, but I'll update when they do.

Thanks for your prayers and please continue to keep her in mind since she has this surgery ahead of her plus radiation and all of that.

Wow! Praise God! Man...good thing your sister went to a second doctor. Crazy how different two doctors can see things.
