Enough Already!

I'm really tired of celebrity nicknames. I mean, Bennifer was kinda cute, but they should have stopped there. There's nothing cute about the name TomKat. And I feel for their new child, Tomkitten. As an act of protest, I demand to be known as Kevifer. What's good for celebs is good for regular people.

Here's something else that just doesn't seem right to me. Daycares have a rule that if your kid has a fever, you can't bring them back for 24 hours, right? (and I know I shouldn't care because I don't have kids, but whatever). Well, I have a coworker who is complaining that her kid had a 101 degree fever last night, but they just doped her up with motrin this morning and sent her to daycare and are keeping their fingers crossed that the daycare people don't figure out she's got a fever. What's that all about? You want everyone else's kid to be miserable too so you can come to work and be undisturbed...granted both parents have the capability to work from home when needed and could stay home with her.

It just kind of irks me. Not to mention that sick kids need their parents to take care of them...not a daycare worker who can't give the kid individual attention. But I guess if you do the math and figure that you're paying $100 a week for daycare and one day costs $20, you hate to just throw that $20 away to take care of your child.

But anyway, I've started ranting about something that's not even my business.

We did our last set of run 6 minutes, walk 2 minutes last night. Tonight we're going to try to kick it up to run 7 minutes, walk 1 minute....and we're doing it outside....but the good news is that it's only supposed to be 82 degrees when we run. I hope it's breezy. I'd hate to have to start shedding clothing on the jogging trail. We're counting on NewJoggingBuddyJohn to motivate the heck out of us.

jennifer....you have hit a note that is dear to my heart (did i mix up two different sayings?) let me preface by saying that i love my mother, and she is a wonderful woman. she works in child care, and she gets paid hourly. she and my step-dad are always strapped for money, so i can see why she feels that she can't miss work...but here's what she does...bless her heart...she will work sick any day of the week. she will have a fever, and she will so go in to work, to her classroom full of 4 year olds. now see, here's the part where the nasty viruses spread...infecting not only the kids, but they infect their parents, who infect their co-workers...etc...it's a vicious cycle. so i can totally identify with what you're saying about your co-worker sending their kid to school sick...because no one cares about infecting scores of other people...it's as if they don't see the bigger picture. crap spreads...this is why. rant over and out.
