On Things that are Idiotic

I might be anal about certain things. Some of you are shocked, I know!

Text messaging technology is among the worst things that's happened to our society. I am sick to death of people making up stupid abbreviations for stuff that's not that hard to write out. Is 'YOU' that much harder to write than 'U'? 'CUL8R' is not cute (particularly if you're over the age of 12). It's not funny. It's an affront to the English language. You could have spelled out 'BYE' and saved a few of the letters that you so desperately want to avoid typing.

Oh how my skin crawls.

Kelly Clarkson, I've lost all respect for you. Upon reading that the title of one of your songs is, "SINCE U BEEN GONE", I first threw up in my mouth a little bit, then vowed never to buy one of your albums. Are you really setting an intelligent example for today's youth?

There's a certain popular festival that comes to town every spring that ends in the word 'DAZE'. Somebody thought it would be appropriate or cute or whatever to substitute the word 'DAZE' or the word 'DAYS'. Well, it's not. Especially when you take into account that the money raised by the festival goes toward COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS! How ironic.

If I didn't think this was a global phenomenon, I'd move. Unfortunately, I think it's something I'm going to have to live with. Can anyone recommend a good therapist?
