Why are my predictions always wrong?

It all started a few years ago....I thought I might have a special gift for predicting the gender of friends' unborn babies.

When my friend Heather was pregnant with her middle child, I was so certain it would be a boy that I told her, "If this baby's not a boy, I'll chew my own leg off and eat it." Nine months later, I met little Jillian (who is all girl, by the way).

Then Heather got pregnant again with her youngest child (to date) and I said, "OK, I meant if THIS one's not a boy I'll chew my own leg off and eat it." Well...nine moths later, out popped little Annie (and as you guessed, Heather isn't cruel enough to name a boy Annie...she's a girl too.)

You would think I would recognize at this point that my gift for gender prediction is about as real as Miss Cleo's alleged psychic abilities, but NO! I have incredible amounts of self-confidence.

My friend Elaine got pregnant. I felt sure that hers was a girl. I just couldn't imagine it being anything but a girl. Her baby's name is Joshua.

And now for the grand finale....Tara's baby. Tara just birthed her baby yesterday. I was surer than sure that hers was a boy, which should have been my first clue that it would be a girl!

I have a new idea for gender selection. If you have your heart set on having a certain gendered baby, you can pay me to predict the opposite gender and you will get what your heart desires. Pregnant friends, get out your checkbooks!
